Document Imaging is the conversion of paper documents into electronic images on your computer. Once on your network, these documents can be retrieved effortlessly in seconds. The key to this process is finding the right document imaging scanner and software combination that will allow you to perform the exact tasks that your workplace demands.
There are three major components of Document Imaging, including a scanner, interface which connects the host computer to the scanner, and the software that runs the components.  EDAC merges these three components into an integrated capture solution which is custom-tailored to each of our clients' requirements. The end result is a cost-effective product which is scalable and allows the customer to immediately reap the benefits in their operation from the first day the system comes on line.

Scanners

Scanners come in many different shapes, sizes and, most importantly, speeds. You don't want to choose a scanner that's high speed if all you have is a couple of hundred pages to scan. On the other hand, you don't want to get a low-cost unit that you need to run beyond its rated "duty cycle" to handle the volume of work that you want.

Interface
Nowadays the most common form of connection between the scanner and CPU is the USB 2.0 interface.   The USB has made installation and set-up easy and fast. FireWire connection is the next new popular connection; it requires a FireWire card and cable which are provided by the manufacturer.   There are still high production scanners that use the SCSI interface which has added image processing, bar code recognition and fast throughput speed.

Image Enhancement

Both software and hardware can be used to maximize the quality of the image. By de-skewing, cropping, and image clean-up, the image legibility or the capability of a successful OCR is significantly increase.
